After six years of silence, Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm returned on October 1. And this week, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor appeared on the show. Or did he?
The internet has been losing its mind after one hawk-eyed fan spotted what may or may not be Reznor in a 2- or 3-second clip of the show’s latest episode. While the theory has been dissected via Reddit, the man under the paint remains a mystery.

Below, see the statue for yourself by watching the scene in which Larry David, alongside his date and her son, walk past the living statue in question:
@EsotericCD Jeff, I find your silence on the question of whether this is actually Trent Reznor in costume as the Strobe Light cover on Curb Your Enthusiasm strange. This is right in your wheelhouse. pic.twitter.com/VaA4Kg56hg

As NME points out (via Birth.Movies.Death.), the current rumor uses evidence from Reznor’s April Fools joke where he posted a fake NIN album where he’s seen wearing the same sunglasses as the Curb Your Enthusiasm statue. (If that isn’t proof, I don’t know what is.)
To add to the confusion, Reznor even liked Birth.Movies.Death.’s tweet about the statue rumor! The mystery ensues.
