This weekend, Andrea Bocelli was met by press outside a hospital in Pisa after the singer revealed that he has donated plasma in the wake of a confirmed coronavirus diagnosis.

Bocelli shared that he received the news on March 10 after testing with a swab. “The Prayer” star suffered from a slight fever but no other major symptoms. Now he is helping research into COVID-19 by providing plasma.

This weekend, Bocelli once again marked a holiday with an uplifting performance, singing “Ave Maria” on Today. Last month he marked Easter with a performance in the Duomo Cathedral in Milan.

Bocelli has been very active during this pandemic, beyond these marquee performances. The singer also took part in the massive One World: Together At Home special by singing “The Prayer” with other artists including Lady Gaga and John Legend.

After the powerful response to that moment, Céline Dion and Bocelli recruited fans from around the world for a special video for the song. “We asked people around the world to come together over video for the new official lyric video for Andrea and @celinedion's much loved single, 'THE PRAYER'” Bocelli shared in a tweet. “Thank you fans of the world for your wonderful participation!”
